FOOD PANTRY WINS — The Pondera Medical Center Wellness Center members, employees, patrons and visitors donated a total of 474 pounds of food to the Pondera Food Pantry during the Bobcat/Grizzly food drive. Lori Pocock-Fletcher and Charlene Bouma both told the I-O, “The holidays can be financially tough on everyone. Beginning Dec. 3, bus service to Great Falls will be available to residents in Dupuyer and Valier.
On Mondays the bus will leave the Pondera Center at 7 a.m. giving Conrad residents the opportunity to ride to Dupuyer or Valier in the morning with a return route in the afternoon.
The bus departs Dupuyer from the Post Office at 7:45 a.m., and travels to Valier, departing from the One Stop Cenex at 8:30 a.m. It arrives back in Conrad at 9 a.m. at the Pondera Village Shopping Center. This gives the riders a chance to catch the Northern Transit Interlocal (NTI) bus to Great Falls, departing from the Pondera Village Shopping Center at 9:15 a.m.
The bus arrives at the Great Falls Transit Transfer Center, 326 1st Ave. S., at 10:35 a.m. allowing passengers to transfer to the Great Falls Transit System for travel within Great Falls.
If you have a scheduled medical appointment, the bus will take you directly to your medical provider and pick you up when your appointment is done. If you need a ride to the airport, it will even take you there. The bus departs Great Falls from the Transfer Center at 1:15 p.m., arriving back to the Pondera Center by 2:15 p.m.
Riders may then depart from the Pondera Village Shopping Center, arriving at the One Stop Cenex in Valier by 2:45 p.m. and the Dupuyer Post Office by 3:30 p.m. arriving back at the Pondera Village Shopping Center by 4:15 p.m.
On Tuesdays, service is provided to Kalispell, leaving from the Pondera Village Shopping Center at 6:15 a.m., the 14 Mile Corner at 6:25 a.m., meeting with the NTI bus at the Shelby Amtrak Station in Shelby at 6:55 a.m.
The bus arrives in Kalispell at the Regional Medical Center at 10:45 a.m. On the return trip, the bus leaves Kalispell at 2 p.m. during the winter months, November-April, otherwise 3 p.m. in May-October.
The bus arrives at the Amtrak Station in Shelby at 5:20 p.m. November-April (6:20 p.m. May-October), the 14 Mile Corner at 5:50 p.m. November-April (6:50 p.m. May-October) and the Pondera Village Shopping Center at 6 p.m. November-April (7 p.m. May-October).
Reservations are required the day prior to your planned trip to or from Kalispell, Whitefish or any destination along Highway 2. Please call Ray at (406) 470-0727 to make your reservation.
Thursday is the day for Brady residents to meet with the bus to Great Falls or to go to Conrad for shopping and appointments.
The bus leaves the Pondera Village Shopping Center at 8 a.m. picking up riders at the Mountain View Co-op in Brady by 8:30 a.m. arriving back at the Pondera Village Shopping Center at 9 a.m. The NTI bus leaves at 9:15 a.m. arriving at the Great Falls Transit Transfer Center at 10:35 a.m.
Again, riders may transfer to the Great Falls Transit System for travel within Great Falls or stay on the bus for transportation to and from medical appointments. The bus departs from the Great Falls Transit Transfer Center at 1:15 p.m. arriving back at the Pondera Village Shopping Center by 2:15 p.m., then to Brady by 2:45 p.m. and back to Conrad by 3:15 p.m.
This is general transportation available to everyone, not just for medical or senior transport.
In an effort to connect rural residents with shopping, medical care and transportation, Pondera, Toole and Glacier counties are working together to make this possible.
