Livingston native, Kody Farkell has taken on the appointed office of Pondera County Clerk and Recorder.

She moved into the position when Janice Hoppes resigned. Hoppes was elected to the office of county commissioner in the November General Election.

Born and raised in Livingston, the 32-year-old Farkell graduated from Park County High School in 1999 and went on to attend MSU-Bozeman where she attained a BS degree in Agricultural Business Management in 2003.

Farkell comes to the Clerk and Recorder’s department from the Pondera County Conservation District (PCCD) where she was an administrator for seven and half years.

“One of the things I loved about working with the PCCD was the opportunity to serve the residents of Pondera County,” she tells the Independent-Observer. “I applied for this position because I saw it as an opportunity to serve the residents of the county in a larger capacity.”

Asked about her qualifications, Farkell commented, “I am a very organized and dedicated person. I like working in a challenging environment and believe I am able to handle multiple responsibilities at a time.”

She is a board member of the Conrad for Dollars, serves with the Conrad FFA Alumni and is a youth director at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

When she has time, her hobbies include camping, hiking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Farkell says that, “I do not foresee making any changes in the office at this time. I plan to work with my staff to see how things have been to this point and make any necessary changes once we get settled into a new routine together.”

“I am excited to have been appointed Clerk and Recorder. So far I have enjoyed the work and the other people who work for the county,” she said.

The position pays $40,956 a year plus $2,000 additional for Election Administration duties.

The Clerk and Recorder is located at 20 4th Ave. S.W. on the main floor of the courthouse. Their phone number is 271-4000.
