The Fairy Kingdom will come to life on the CHS auditorium stage when the Conrad High School Drama Department presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream on March 14-15-16.
The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. each night.
While the romantic couples in Athens (Kira Mills, Jake Bender, Kaitlyn Weis and Will Early) spar with Hernia’s father (Raymond Palmer), Duke Theseus (Raymond Hough) prepares to marry the Amazon Queen (Deidre Mecham).
The court jester (Drew Drishinski) tries unsuccessfully to keep everybody entertained.
The disappointed lovers flee into the forest where the Fair King and Queen (Drew Arends and Erin Awtrey) are having their own dispute.
Things turn comic when the enchantments begin and Puck (Molly Gianarelli) charms the eyes of the wrong Athenian youth.
The workmen of the town (D.J. Mecham, Ariel Sauer, and Lynne Spears) prepare a play to honor Duke Theseus’ marriage, but their skills fall short and only create more fun.
The fairies (Andrea Awtrey, Nirupa Gadi, and Annabell Wittmier) try to help their queen find love in all the wrong places when Bottom the Weaver (one of the workmen) stumbles across their queen’s enchanted path.
Harsh words are spoken by the lovers under their various enchantments, but things work out in the end.
After all, it is a comedy. Maybe they were only dreaming.
