WRESTLING DYNASTY — Over the last 25 years the UMS wrestlers, under Coach Kevin Moritz, have built a wrestling dynasty. Wrestlers have placed first 20 times, including a streak of 17 consecutive years. There was one second place, a third and last year the team was fourth. A new streak has begun with their division win in Fort Benton.

The Utterback Middle School wrestlers were a team on a mission on Saturday.
Win the divisional crown, settle for nothing less. Mission compete.
Coach Kevin Moritz said, “It took an extra effort for the boys to take first place. They had to work hard with only 16 wrestlers, where other teams had us outnumbered by five and six.”
The Buckaroos took the town of Fort Benton by storm along with Big Sandy, Browning, CJ-I, Choteau, DeLaSalle, East Glacier, Fairfield, Simms, Tri-Cities and Valier.
Conrad came home with three first places, four-second places, three-thirds, and one-fourth place.
The top four teams and scores looked like this: CONRAD 1ST, 185; Browning 2nd, 175.5, Cut Bank 3rd, 174, and Shelby 4th, 163.
Following are the individual results and record for the year. For eighth graders, their career record at UMS follows the season record.

Tournament side note: Mycke capped a nifty at UMS career with a 21-0 record and a first place at the divisional tournament.
He capped the championship with two pin wins. His first win came in the time of just :19 seconds. He had to work a little harder for the title win, :21 seconds.
The team is coached by K. Moritz and Doug Moritz is the assistant coach.
The home boys were down going into the championship to Cut Bank who lost a crucial match and the door opened for the Buckaroos.
While Conrad had 16 wrestlers, Browning and Cut Bank had 20 and 21 matmen and you can score up to 20 wrestlers. “We really had to work hard for the win,” Moritz said.
In the last 20 years, UMS has won 17 consecutive division titles, taken a couple of seconds and were fourth last year.
The coach is looking forward to the next wrestling season, “We have a good crop of kids coming up,” he noted.
