WAY TO GO! — The Conrad Cowboy boys golf team brought home second place on Saturday at the divisional golf tournament in Malta. “I am very pleased with what we did at the divisional.” Those were the words of Coach Todd Truscott, commenting on the Cowboys second place finish and Hayley Orcutt’s second place in Malta over the weekend.
The area boy’s teams did well, taking the top three places.
The boy’s placing and team scores looked like this: 1. Choteau 348, 2. Conrad 359, 3. Fairfield 367, 4. Plentywood 373, 5. Malta 382, 6. Shelby 388, 7. Glasgow 396, 8. Cut Bank 402, and 9. Harlem 406.
The Cowboys placed two golfers in the top 10. Justin Salois turned in a fine round of 84 to capture sixth place.
Blake Underdahl was three shots back with an 87 to place tenth.
Jack Grubb and Logan Garman both shot a 94 to compete in a three-way tie for 16th spot with one other player and Lucas Fowler was one shot back at 95 in a three-way tie for 19th.
Not to be out done, on the ladies side, area teams shot well also, taking the top three spots, Cut Bank, Choteau and Shelby.
Morgan Woods of Fairfield came on to post an 85 to take top individual honors. However, junior Cowgirl Hayley Orcutt was right behind in second place with a round of 94.
Cowgirls Jenae Johns was in the top 30, at 29th with a round of 133 and Kyleigh Salois was in 34th, shooting a 148.
Coach Truscott noted, “Hayley and Justin really stepped it up and helped Conrad do well."
The golfers head off to Bigfork on May 21-22 for the state tournament on one of Montanan’s famed golf courses.
