The burgeoning mom and pop business that is H5 Auto Clean was established this year by Jacque and Geoff Hampton who are the owners and operators, and this week’s Spotlight on Business. In 2012 the Hampton’s moved from their home in Northern California to Conrad. “We really have grown to love Conrad, the people and the safe environment to raise our kids, Samantha, 15; Madisyn, 13 and Kennedy, 10.”
Their detailing business grew out of a wealth of knowledge gathered over more than 20 years. The Hampton family has a long history of being involved in vehicle dealership. Jacque’s dad ran service departments for years, and for 16 years Geoff worked for dealerships.
Beginning early on, Geoff was involved with the oversight of vehicles being made ready for sale at the dealership he worked for. Both the Hamptons understand how a vehicle should be cleaned and what it should look like when done. They had the opportunity to work with many great detailers in California, learning methods that they still use today.
On the business end of things, Geoff (also Frontline Ag’s Sales and Finance Manager) handles the accounting and advertising, while Jacque takes care of the majority of the cleaning and detailing.
They offer two packages: basic and complete. The basic consists of a wash, vacuum and tire/wheel clean. The complete is exactly that. They clean a vehicle inside and out, and use a vapor steam cleaner to clean a large portion of the vehicle.
The key to the vapor steam cleaner is the 315 degree steam that allows a thorough cleaning of carpet, upholstery, trim, glass and wheels without using any chemicals. It works wonders on all types of seats, and the amount of actual moisture needed can be adjusted depending on the vehicle. Leather cream is used on leather surfaces or a fabric protector for cloth seating.
Microfiber towels, which are far softer than normal towels, are used due to their higher absorbency rating. These are much safer for paint, glass and soft trim. No buffers or sanders of any kind are used. Any buffing is done by hand only.
In addition, customers are allowed to customize as the Hamptons are incredibly flexible with their services. You can have just the interior, exterior, or just seats done. You name it.
In addition to vehicles, H5 Auto Clean also offers cleaning of boats, RVs and motorcycles.
“Conrad has been incredibly good to us from the beginning,” said the Hamptons, “and we look forward to continuing to be active with the schools and help the community prosper.”
