Conrad volleyball fans, not to mention the team finally got some play time in the friendly confines of the home gym.
The home girls played three straight games in the Corral, winning two and just missing out on taking a third match against Shelby on Saturday.
The teams’ home opener was against Cut Bank and the contest went to five games. Conrad won the match with scores of 21-25, 25-16, 25-19, 21-15 and 15-13.
Conrad’s defense allowed only eight ace serves to drop in for Cut Bank while the Cowgirls put down 11 with Morgan VanDyke getting four and Krista Judisch two.
On this night, the floor belonged to junior Judisch who pounded back 20 of the Cowgirls 52 kills. VanDyke drilled back 14 shots and Emily Harwood was one short of double figures with nine.
Judisch also had five of 10 blocked shots at the net with Harwood getting two.
Hayley Orcutt covered the floor, dishing up 39 of 52 assists and Michaela DeBoo came in with 12.
Conrad dug out 147 incoming balls with Taryn Erickson having 34. DeBoo was right behind with 33 digs and VanDyke had 20.
The five set match featured 17 ties and six lead changes.
The C-squad won their match 3-0, by scores of 25-20, 25-21, 15-9. The JV team won their match 3-1 by scores of 25-20, 25-21, 12-25, and 15-13.
Friday the Rocky Boy Morning Stars were in town for a very short visit.
It took less than an hour for the Cowgirls to dispatch of the Morning Stars as Conrad won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-5, 25-15, 25-15.
In the first game Orcutt opened up at the service line and went on a six point run. It only got worse for Rocky Boy.
The Cowgirls powered over 15 aces with VanDyke getting four, DeBoo three and Talia Stephens two.
The team had 26 kill shots with Harwood and Stephens leading the way with seven each and VanDyke right behind with six.
DeBoo put up 16 assists and Orcutt nine and Judisch had two of four blocked shots.
Of the 58 team digs, Erickson put up 15, Orcutt 11 and VanDyke nine.
Saturday, Shelby came in to complete the tri-fecta and took a hard fought match that went to the limits of five games.
Scores for the match looked like this: 26-24, 20-25, 8-25, 25-20, 7-15.
In the first game, neither team could build a lead of more than two points and there were 17 ties.
Shelby hurt the Cowgirls by getting 16 serves to drop in for aces while Conrad only got six. DeBoo had two of them.
Conrad put back 40 kill shots with Harwood having 14, Judisch eight and VanDyke seven. Harwood also had five of eight blocked shots at the net and Judisch had two.
Orcutt put up 20 of 40 assists and DeBoo had 19. The team had 143 digs of incoming shots with Erickson getting 38, VanDyke 35 and DeBoo 24.
The JV team won their match with Shelby 3-1.
Thursday the Cowgirls biggest rival, Choteau, comes in for what looks to be an intriguing match.
The Lady Bulldogs are undefeated in conference play and Conrad, with the taste of two big wins could be ready to knock Choteau off their pedestal.
Early action starts about 4:15 p.m. with the varsity game to get going about 7 p.m. Conrad and Choteau always provide a lot of action on the court and this match-up should be no different.
