Inmate medical insurance raised

The commission moved and approved to renew the Inmate Excess Medical Insurance with Correctional Risk Services, Inc. at the base rate of $.85 per inmate per day.

The rates become effective Nov. 1 and are good until Oct. 2014.

Commissioner Janice Hoppes made the motion and Sandi Broesder gave it a second, which passed on a 2-0.

Commissioner Joe Christiaens will be out of the office for a while due to illness and an operation.

In other business before the commission, an encroachment agreement requested by John Shevlin to put in an approach on the east side of Front Street, approximately 300 feet south of 7th St. SW for the purpose of installing an 18-inch culvert was passed on a vote of 2-0.

The third draw down for the Brady County Water and Sewer District (CDBG) in the amount of $47,486.85 was approved on a 2-0 vote.

Kody Farkell, the Clerk and Recorder/Election Administrator wants to remind everyone that Nov. 5 is Election Day for the City of Conrad and the Town of Valier.

The election is vote-by-mail and no polling places will be open.

Ballots were mailed to eligible voters on Oct. 15 and should have been received by now.

If you are a resident of Conrad or Valier and did not received a ballot in the mail, contact the Clerk and Recorder’s office, 20 4th Ave. SW or call them at (406) 271-4000.

Farkell notes that the office has had ballots returned by the post office as undeliverable or forward expired mail. Her office has been contacting voters they are able to locate.
