In a Saturday morning interview, Pondera Medical Center (PMC) board chairman Brent Gaylord told the I-O, “Please do not use the word ‘fired’ when referring to the transition in leadership at PMC.”
In reference to PMC/CEO Wayne Ogburn, Gaylord said, “He was not fired.”
The CEO who replaced former CEO Mark Jones has been at the helm at the hospital for less than a year. His contract is up on May 31, and PMC board does not intend to renew it.
No other details will be released at this time, Gaylord said.
A number of questions came up concerning the resignation and Dr. Jay Taylor. However, Gaylord would not answer them.
He went on to say, “This is a personnel matter, and it is the policy of PMC to keep personnel matters confidential.”
Ogburn is on vacation in southern California and could not be reached for a comment. He is due back to the hospital later this week.
Ogburn has a Master’s Degree in Health Administration and is an active member in American College of Healthcare Executives and is a board certified Health Care Manager.
Gaylord told the I-O, “I am asking for continued positive community support of PMC and its mission of providing access to quality healthcare in Pondera and the surrounding counties.”
