End hunger games

One out of five kids in America struggle with hunger. Pondera County Insurance is putting on a Mini-Triathlon to raise money for No Kid Hungry, which has a summer meal site in Conrad, and also to raise awareness for childhood obesity.

The Mini-Triathlon will be Aug. 14 at 4 p.m. for ages five to 14; kids will be split into the different age groups of five to seven, eight to 11, 12 to 14. Five to seven-year-olds will be doing a 25 meter swim, one mile bike, and half mile run. Eight to 11-year-olds will be doing a 50 meter swim, two mile bike, and one mile run. Twelve to 14-year-olds will be doing a 100 meter swim, three mile bike, and two mile run.

The race will start with the swim at the Conrad Pool, and the biking and running portions will be done on streets surrounding the pool. Kids will need to bring bikes, helmets, swimming suits, and running gear.

Registration is $10 and a can of food. Early registration is encouraged. T-shirts will be provided to participants, but an early estimate of sizing and quantity will be needed.
