Jennie Schagen den Dunnen

ImageJennie Schagen den Dunnen, 97, of Choteau, beloved mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother passed away October 13, 2006 at Teton Medical Center Extended Care of natural causes.
Jannigje (Jennie) was born on August 12, 1909 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands to Jan (John) and Cornelia Meerkerk Schagen. She immigrated to the U.S. through Ellis Island with her parents and brother when she was 11 years old and arrived in Corsica, S.D. in 1920.
On June 22, 1932 she married Johannas (John) den Dunnen in Corsica. The family moved to Sunnyside, Wash. in 1935 where her husband passed away in 1943. In 1951 she moved to Choteau where she was a nurse at the Teton Nursing Home for 21 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-father, a brother, three infant brothers, a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her twin daughters Cornelia J. (Ralph) Bouma of Conrad and Johanna C. (Harold) Bouma of Choteau, two nieces, 14 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 36 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services are at the Old Paths Strict Baptist Church in Choteau on Oct. 17, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. C. Sonnevelt and P. L. Bazen of the Netherlands Reformed Congregations of Lethbridge and Picture Butte, Alberta officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, Wash. on Oct. 19, 2006. Services are under the direction of Gorder Funeral Home Choteau.
