Anna Mamuzich, 94, of Missoula, passed away Oct. 28, 2006, at Community Medical Center of natural causes.
She was born Sept. 3, 1912 in Great Falls to Emil and Nelle Ansen. She was raised on the family ranch at Fort Shaw MT and was educated in the Fort Shaw public schools. While in High School, she was a member of the Girls Basketball Team that took state honors. She was an Honor Student and also participated in Track and other sport events.
On Sept. 18, 1932, she married John Mamuzich in Choteau. The couple lived in the Choteau and Great Falls area until 1941, when the family moved to California where John was an instructor for cadets in the Army Air Corp. The family moved to Conrad in 1945, where they started Pondera Flying Service which they operated until retirement.
She moved to Heritage Home in Missoula in 2005 to be close to her family. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and was active in St. Michael’s Guild and church activities for many years. She also was a long time member of the Soroptimist Club.
She was an avid aviation enthusiast and held a private pilots license. She was a member of Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association. She greatly enjoyed flying her Piper Cherokee. They had made many flights to points in the western U.S. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening and the great outdoors.
Survivors include two sons: Bob Mamuzich of Demming N.M. and Jerry Mamuzich of West Glacier. One brother, John Ansen of Condon, Ore., two sisters, Mary Jenkins of Bigfork Mont. and Lena O’Neil of Fort Shaw Mont. Seven Grandchildren and many great grandchildern,nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. and the vigil will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 1, at Garden City Funeral Home.
Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday at Pope John 23RD Catholic church with Father Ed Hislop officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kelvin Mamuzich, Mike Mamuzich, Mark Mamuzich, Duane Egging, Max Boyd and Ted Jenkins.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of choice.
