Theodore (Teddy/ Ted) C. Peters of Missoula, formerly of Conrad, passed away on the morning of Nov. 08, at the age of 56 years old, at the Village Health Care Center in Missoula. He died of complications of Multiple Sclerosis, which he was diagnosed in 1985. He was the third child born of Casper and Genevieve Peters on April 19, 1950 in Rugby N.D.
He moved to Conrad with his family at an early age and graduated from Conrad High School in 1969. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy out of Groton, Conn. serving on the USS Narwhal Nuclear Submarine until his medical discharge.
After leaving the military he returned to Conrad for a short time before moving to Ashland, Ore. where he enrolled in Southern Oregon University. While attending SOU in the spring of 1974 he met and married Kathy Hall. In 1977 the marriage ended in divorce and he returned to Conrad.
He was employed with Hauge Brothers Drilling, where he worked several years on drilling rigs.
Ted was a skilled craftsman and spent much of his spare time woodworking and playing pinochle. He also enjoyed working in law enforcement as a dispatcher in Conrad and riding along with law enforcement, namely his brother-in-law Alan Michaels in the Montana Highway Patrol.
He was not only an abetted listener but a collector of memorabilia from classic bands such as the Beatles, Rolling Stones and The Byrds.
His M.S. eventually forced him to be in a wheelchair, which did not stop him from cruising around Conrad and going to the Keg for his prime rib and popcorn chicken.
When his health deteriorated even more he was moved to the Village Health Care Center in Missoula to be cared for by his best friend and guardian Dale Floerchinger.
He will be missed by his family and many friends he made and enjoyed during his stay at the Village. Private closer will be on Nov. 11 in Missoula. Interment of his ashes will be done later next spring or early summer in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Conrad. Pondera Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
