Conrad native Marina (Rencurel) Elkins age 77 died peacefully with her family at her side Dec. 1, at Pondera Medical Center after a struggle with cancer.
A celebration of her life took place at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Tuesday Dec. 5th.
Marina was born April 16, 1929 in Conrad to Cyrille and Ruth Rencurel. She grew up in Conrad and attended schools here.
She married Charles Elkins on April 16, 1947. They lived in Conrad, Valier, Stanford, and then returning to Conrad to raise their 4 children.
Marina was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 7655 – you could find her helping with the Bake sales, rummage sales and blood drawing. She was an active member of St. Michaels Catholic Church being a member all her life. She loved to play cards especially with her grandchildren. She also loved Bingo.
She is survived by her daughters, Dian (Dan) Smith of Grand Junction, Colo., Yvonne (Dave) Klette, of Dutton, Mary Elkins of Conrad, Son Chuck Elkins of Calif., Grandchildren Jodi (Gail) James, Tonya (Dale) Breding, Brian Doheny, Josh Smith, Great-grandchildren Jade and Alec Breding, Dylan and Ryan James and Jordan Doheny. Sister: Irene (James) Becker of Great Falls, Brothers Jim (Karen) Rencurel of Havre and Ed (Helen) Rencurel of Chino Valley, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Elkins, parents Cyrille and Ruth Rencurel, brother Florian Rencurel, sisters, Mary Rencurel, and Evelyn Thorbjornson.
Memorials to St. Michaels Catholic Church and Hospice Room at Pondera Medical Center. Pondera Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
