Arthur Wallace (Wally) Johnson, long time member of the Conrad community, died Friday afternoon, June 29.
He was born in Conrad on Sept. 27, 1935 to Mabel and Arthur Johnson. When Wally was only four-years-old, his father passed away. In 1943, his mother married Ervin Erickson, and over the years Richard and Raymond were born to this family and they delighted in their big brother Wally.
After his graduation from Bozeman High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea. Upon his return to the U.S., he worked on his aunt and uncle’s farm east of Conrad which he later purchased. He lived almost all of his remaining years on his beloved farm.
In his spare time, Wally loved to hunt and fish. He was a remarkable man, surviving a heart transplant in 1994 and a kidney transplant in 2005.
Wally is survived by his daughter D’Arlyn Serena (Kurtis) Borda, son Joseph Wallace and a dear friend and partner Betty Johnson. He is also survived by brothers Richard (Sylvia) and Raymond (Mary) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Johnson, Mabel and Ervin Erickson and a baby brother Russell Curtis Johnson.
Memorial services are pending.
