Memorial services with military honors given by the Dutton Legion, will be held Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Brady Community Hall. Burial will be held at a later date.
Jim was the fifth child of Slim and Magdallena (Doheny) Lowery, born on Sept. 3, 1943.
He went to school at the Doheny School and graduated from Conrad High School in 1962.
Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1963 and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in October 1967.
While in the service, he was schooled in Diesel Mechanics and received his certification.
Jim married MaryAnn and lived in Alaska for a short time, then came back to Montana and lived in north central Montana. Jim and MaryAnn had two sons, Jim and Ken. They later divorced.
Jim and Peggy Cichosz were married on April 23, 1988 and had 24 years together.
Jim battled with Epilepsy for 46 years and it took a toll on him. The last two years, he had been at the Glacier Care Center where he enjoyed giving everyone a hard time.
On his 69th birthday, Jim’s brother Clyde and Peggy took Jim up to the cabin in Benchmark and he said that’s the best birthday present to have.
Jim is survived by his wife Peggy; sons Jim of Great Falls and Ken of Missoula; step-son Jason (Katrina) Cichosz of Great Falls; two step-grandchildren Cassie and Devin Cichosz of Great Falls; brothers Clyde of Dutton and Tom (Trudy) of Great Falls; and sisters Edith Fitch of Couer d’alene, Idaho, Mayce (Larry) Niemothka of Vacaville, Calif., and Diana (Rich) Hurley of Fairbanks, Alaska.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Joe Lowery and a sister Betty Aukshun.
