A service will be held Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Conrad Baptist Church, 110 N. Wisconsin St., Conrad, followed by internment at the Valier Cemetery. Afterwards, all are welcome to a gathering at the Valier Community Center.
Arrangements are being handled by Pondera Funeral Home.
Robert was born in Conrad to Robert and Ruth (Freed) Yeager on Nov. 1, 1947. The family resided in Valier where Robert attended school until he was 17, when he went to work on an oil rig
In 1968, he married Linda Gobert of Browning. They have two sons, John and David. They divorced in 1977.
In 1979 he married Karen Smith. They have a son, Shawn and a daughter, Jamie. They divorced in 1988.
In 1990 he met and married Leni Britton. They have a daughter, Savannah.
In the early years, Robert worked on oil rigs, local farms and elevators, the Montana Western Railroad and a seismograph company. In Browning he worked at the pencil factory and managed the War Bonnet Hotel. In 1974 he started his career with Burlington Northern Railroad and retired from BNSF in 2002 after 29 years.
Robert took great pride in his work and he loved his huge family that includes 11 grandchildren and 102 nieces and nephews. He treasured the huge family gatherings. He had a big heart and never asked for anything in return. There was always room in his home for family and friends. After he retired, Robert took pleasure in gardening and his many aquariums.
He is survived by his wife, Enid Leni Yeager; his children, John W. of Conrad, David C. of Valier, Shawn R. of Helena, Jamie N. of Dutton, Savannah L. of Ulm and MacKenzie N., their granddaughter who lives with them; step-children, Paul Smith and Dana Gobert of Conrad; sisters, Patricia (James) Payne and Cindy (Dick) Habets of Valier; (Vaughn) Farnstrom of Conrad, Donna (Mike) Kubis of Kevin, Tammy (Frank) Coster of Great Falls, Diana (Roy) Web of Burns, Wyo.; and brother Donald (Janice) Yeager of Conrad.
Robert is preceded in death by grandparents William and Clara Fanny Yeager and Fred and Sylvia Freed; his father Robert Lewis Yeager; and two brother-in-laws.
