Dixie Lee Gray, 70, a retired LPN and former Conrad resident, died of cancer on Feb. 21 at St. Peters Hospital in Helena.
    Services were held on Mar. 2 at the Glacier Homes Community Center n Browning. George “G.G.” Kipp, Traditional Leader, Pikuni Traditional Assn., officiated. Cre­mation followed.
    Survivors include her children, a son, Vernon Gray of Helena; daughters, Sherry Miner, Dublin, Calif., Linda Lindstrom, East He­lena; sisters, Mona Zuback, Browning and Ila Dean Vought, Helendale, Calif.; four grandchil­dren and four great-grandchildren.
    Dixie was born Dec. 4, 1936 to Michael and Lucille (Murphy) Pepion in Browning where she was raised and attended elementary school.  She attended high school at Chemawa Indian School in Oregon and graduated in 1955.
    She married Kenneth Gray in Roger River, Ore., June 18, 1956. The couple divorced in 1971.
    Dixie received her LPN training in Tacoma, Wash., and graduated in 1970. She was employed by Public Health and also by Fort Harrison VA Hospital in Helena, retiring in December of 2001.
    She enjoyed reading, walks, camping and horseback riding.
    Honorary pallbearers were Skippy Matt, Ron Zuback, Vernon Gray, Pat Lindstrom, Darin Urban, Ray Miner, Chris Fisher and Gene Matt.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
    Arrangements were under the direction and care of the Hi Line Funeral Home in Cut Bank.
