Iva “Tootie” (Orr) Linquist

Image    Iva “Tootie” (Orr) Linquist, 64, died suddenly on Saturday at the Shelby Hospital of a stroke.
    Funeral Services will be held Wed., March 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Valier Methodist Church.  Burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.  Pondera Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
    “Tootie”, as all her friends called her, leaves behind her husband, Jack Linquist of Valier; sons, David Stokes of Bonner and Mike (Aaron) Linquist of Choteau; and 3 grandchildren, Hope, Logan, and Keton Linquist.
    She is preceded in death by her son, Frankie, who died in infancy.
    Tootie was born Nov. 20, 1942 in Choteau to Ted and Verna Orr.  She attended several schools in the area including Dupuyer, Choteau, East Glacier, and Valier.  The youngest of six children, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Everett “Jazz” Orr, Elmer “Bady” Orr, Daisy Orr VandenBos Aaberg, Lila “Tiny” Orr King Wright, and Madge Orr Aakre.
    Tootie’s childhood was spent helping her family trail cattle between Choteau and East Glacier. After high school she became part owner in Ted’s Bar & Grill.  She married Sam Stokes, Jr. on Nov. 2, 1960 and together they had 2 sons, Frankie and David. Tootie later remarried to Jack Linquist and together they had one son, Mike.
    She worked at various establishments in the area while raising her sons, keeping a home, and caring for her parents.
    Tootie loved the mountains, painting, and telling stories of her family’s adventures through their lives.
    We will miss her dearly.
