Mary H. Lederer

Mary H. (Guy) Lederer, 93, a retired housewife and native of Conrad, died of natural causes on Feb. 19.

Vigil services will be Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. at Pondera Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Pondera Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Mary was born in Conrad on Feb. 11, 1920, to Harry E. Guy and Gertrude A. Nichols. Mary was raised on the family farm in Conrad and graduated from Conrad High School.  She married her sweetheart Warren A. Lederer on Oct. 3, 1938 and two children soon followed, Mary Lou (Collins) and Frederick W. Lederer.

Warren and Mary farmed together for 35 years, with the last 31 years on the Lederer family homestead here in Conrad.  Mary spent much of her spare time making beautiful cakes for all occasions and knitting many coats and afghans for her family and friends. Mary also loved to cook, host family gatherings, camp and fish.

Warren and Mary spent many winters traveling, spending much time in California with the children and grandchildren.  Mary took on catering jobs during this time while Warren worked for a government contracting company.

Mary was a woman of strong faith and committed much time in daily prayer for her family, friends and religious community.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou (Tom) Collins, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, her husband, son and daughter-in-law.
