Glen Maurice Bouma

Glen Maurice Bouma, 74, passed away suddenly of natural causes on Nov. 8 at 

his home four miles west of Conrad. His wife, Ruby, was by his side.

Services will be held on
Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad. Pondera Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be left at .

Glen was born in Conrad on Nov. 19, 1938, to Corney and Margaret Bouma. He was raised on
the family farm one mile west of Conrad with his two brothers, Howard and Ray, and sister Ruth. Glen
graduated from Conrad High School in 1959. After graduation, Glen purchased land west of Conrad where he
farmed and ranched for 54 years with his wife Ruby (Hansmann) Bouma. Glen and Ruby were married
on June 23, 1961.

In 1973, Glen was presented the “Outstanding Young Farmer” award from the Conrad Jaycees. The
following year Glen was presented with the 2nd place, “Montana Outstanding Young Farmer” award.

In Glen’s spare time he helped out at Big Sky Equipment putting new equipment together
and at the Equity Elevator in Conrad. In 2010, Glen was presented the Montana High School Association
and US Bank’s “Super Fan” award for supporting school activities. Glen followed local high school sports
from the early 70s to the last home football game of 2013. He was especially proud of his
grandchildren and loved watching them in all their sporting events.

Over the years Glen volunteered his time and supported youth organizations such as 4-H, FFA, Marias
Fair Horse Barn Project, the Pondera Shooting Sports Club and building, along with numerous others. Glen was a
Red Cross Volunteer, he supported/donated/worked at the Pondera Food Pantry. Glen was very
community minded and helped out whomever and where ever he could. Glen was a long time member
of the Conrad Moose Lodge and in 2013, Glen was elected one of the Grand Marshalls of the Whoop Up

He is survived by his wife Ruby (Hansmann) Bouma of Conrad; daughter Charlene Bouma of Conrad;
granddaughters Jerrica Harris of Bozeman, Jayleen Harris of Conrad; grandson Colt Harris of Conrad; and
great-grandson Cody Garlen Harris of Conrad. Other family members include his brothers Howard
Bouma of Conrad, Ray Bouma of West Glacier and sister Ruth (Bouma) of Texas, along with his cousin
LeRoy Bouma of Conrad, and Phyllis (Skov) Hammermeister of Conrad, plus numerous other cousins in
the Conrad and Choteau areas.

Glen is preceded in death by his parents, Corney and Margaret Bouma, numerous aunts, uncles and
cousins and grandson Cody Wyatt Harris.

 Farmer, rancher, community volunteer, high school sports supporter—Glen leaves us a legacy of
achievements and dedication to his community. He will be sadly missed and remembered with love by
all that knew him.
