Ken Walter, formerly of Conrad, passed away Jan. 16 in Casa Grande, Ariz., with his wife and children by his side.
Ken was born on Aug. 13, 1931 to Inez and Joe Walter in Wolf Point. He graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1949. On July 16, 1951, he married Leone Durkin. They were married for over 62 years. Together, Ken and Leone had two children, Karen and Ron.
Ken started his career at an early age with Buttrey Foods. He worked his way up in the company and became Meat Manager, moving his family to Conrad in the 1950s, later to Anaconda and then to Butte, where he retired after 36 years of dedicated service.
Ken enjoyed life watching football and playing cards. He loved going to Holter Lake where he and his family spent over 40 years enjoying boating, swimming and fishing with his wife, children and grandchildren, along with his many friends and extended “Lake” family.
Ken is survived by his wife Leone; daughter Karen (Phil) Fruchtl; son Ron (Penny) Walter; along with grandchildren Tony (Christa) Fruchtl, Kelli (Paul) Foos and Brian (Crystal) Walter; four great-grandchildren Avery, Emery, Carson and Taylor—who loved and adored their ‘G-Pa’. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Wambach, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Ken’s request, no services were held.
Memorials and cards may be sent to Leone Walter, 1173 E. Delta Pine, #286, Casa Grande, Ariz., 85112-1314.
