Betty Ellen Paulsen Lorang

Betty Ellen Paulsen Lorang    Betty Lorang passed away in Choteau on April 28. She was born to Bert and Mary Paulsen on July 5, 1925 in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. The family returned to Great Falls in April 1926, and Betty lived in this area most of the rest of her life, including Eden, Cascade, and finally spending her last months at the Skyline Lodge in Choteau.
    Betty is survived by her sons Robert Pappas (Bonnie), of Conrad; Don Lorang (Jo), of Great Falls; daughters, Bernice Hering (Leroy), of Ariz.; and Sylvia Griffiths (Simon), of Texas. Her six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren were a real joy to her and she enjoyed showing their pictures to her friends and neighbors. She was the eldest of ten children, and is also survived by her brothers Maldwin Paulsen, of Nev.; Donald Paulsen, of Calif.; and Clifford Paulsen, of Conrad; surviving sisters include Joyce Kilpatrick and Elda Eller, of Calif.; and Wilma Richmond, of S.C. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert Lorang; brothers Bert Paulsen and Leonard Paulsen; and sister Doris Morse.
    Betty is best remembered by her family and friends for her cheerful smile and happy, loving attitude, in spite of many years battling rheumatoid arthritis and the resulting pain and treatments. Her faith and positive outlook were an inspiration to those around her.
    Memorial Mass will be held in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cascade on May 3 at 3 p.m., with interment of her cremated remains in the Hillside Cemetery in Cascade under the direction of Gorder Funeral Home of Choteau.
