Evelyn Sophia (Stomsvik) Sanders began her new journey at the age of 102 on April 22.

A memorial service will be held on May 3 at 2 p.m. at the First
Presbyterian Church in Conrad. Pondera Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Evelyn was born on June 16, 1911, to Anton and Ellen Stomsvik, in Karlstad, Minn. She was the third of seven children, three of whom survive her. Ernie Stomsvik of Cut Bank; Don Stomsvik of Sacramento, Calif., and Bonnie Shedd of Lacey, Wash.

She graduated from Conrad High School and worked in Williams as a secretary and cream tester. She met Jim, and they were married on July 28, 1932. They farmed in the Manson community where they raised their family. They retired from farming, when the oldest
son took over, and they moved into Conrad in 1982. They celebrated 71 years of marriage before Jim passed away in December of 2003.

Evelyn belonged to the First Presbyterian Church, was a 50+ year member of Order of
Eastern Star, member of Supreme Order of Beauceant, Manson Home Demonstration Club,
and church school teacher over the years.

She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a friend
to all who knew her.

Evelyn spent almost three years at Beehive Homes, where she was loved and pampered by
Donna and Ann. For the past three years Mom lived at Pondera Medical Center—Extended
Care Facility. The family would like to extend their deep gratitude for the care their mom
received, especially during the final days of her life. They were all her extended family.

We will miss our mom, but we know that she is in a better place, reunited with Jim, son Ken,
grandson Shawn, and other family members.

Mom is survived by four of her five children: Dolores (Allen) Wittmier of Conrad; Richard
Sanders (Marcia) of Conrad; Will (Dana) Sanders of Chandler, Ariz.; Patty (Bernard) Ries; and JoAnn Sanders (Ken’s wife) all of Conrad; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Memorials in Evelyn’s name may be made to Pondera Medical Center Bridge Fund or First Presbyterian Church of Conrad.
