Nettie was born Oct. 3, 1922, in a cabin in Valentine to William Everett and Blanche (Long) Lane.  She was the fifth of 12 children born to her mother and the oldest girl in her family.  Her siblings included, from oldest to youngest:  Peter Lane, Elwin Lane, Homer Lane, Franklin Lane, Clifford Lane, Betty Lynn (Penner), Maryann Brown (Peterson), Stanley Brown, Patricia Fisher (Newman), Emma Fisher and Nina Fisher (Eggleston).

Nettie met the love of her life, Albert Carl Jannusch Jr., at a dance at the Aragon Hall in Fairfield in 1937 and they later married in Valier on Nov. 28, 1939.   They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary this winter.  She and “Junior” lived in Dupuyer for most of their married lives, farming and then as proprietors of a Main Street business for 27 years.

Nettie was quiet and small in stature, with a gorgeous smile, great sense of humor, sharp intellect and strong spirit.  Family meant everything to her and she kept close track of everyone.  Her hobbies included travel, sewing, gardening, bird watching, music and dancing with Junior.  She loved knowledge and was an avid reader.  She was a wonderful cook and will always be remembered for “the greatest apple pie ever made.”  Nettie was an active and generous community member, participating in all sorts of fundraising and charitable events.  She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband Albert; sister Nina; son William “Bill” (Judy) Jannusch; daughter Leanne (John) Hayne; son Neil (Cheryl) Jannusch; daughter Lisa (Doug) Sheble; grandchildren Rebecca, Darcy, Scott, Todd, Carrie, Andria, Joleen, Megan, Erica, Joshua, Cole, Kyle, Aaron, Samantha, Courtney and Anthony; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
