John “Jack” Leys, 59, died May 3 at his home in Garden City, Kan.

Memorial services will be held on May 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bible Christian Church in Garden City. Burial will be held in the Valley View Cemetery. Price & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1954 in Conrad to John M. and Dixie L. Biffle Leys. In 1974, he settled in Garden City and was a mechanic at Marv’s Garage. He was a member of the Bible Christian Church in Garden City.

Jack married Vonja S. Barnett in Scott City, Kan., on June 12, 1976. 

Jack is survived by his wife, Vonja; two daughters Shanna (John) Yox of Garden City, and Taryn (Richard) Anthony of River Oaks, Texas; his mother, Dixie Leys of Great Falls; three brothers, Mark Leys of Conrad, Keith Leys of Cut Bank and Thomas Leys of Great Falls; one sister, Sandra Bellows of Spokane, Wash., one granddaughter Angel Yox of Garden City and one grandson Jaxson Yox of Garden City.


Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Center of Kansas in Dodge City in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
