Angelyn Mills Gernaat    Angelyn H. (Halverson) Mills Gernaat, 88, of Great Falls, a retired teacher, died May 28, at a local care facility of complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
    Her memorial service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church on May 31, at 2 p.m. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
    Angelyn H. Gernaat was born February 5, 1919, in Galata, to John and Hilma Halverson. She was raised in Galata and Conrad, graduating from Conrad High School. She received a BS in Elementary Education from Pacific Lutheran College.
    She married Charles Mills in Conrad in 1941 and they later divorced. She married William Gernaat in 1982 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
    Angelyn taught elementary school for a total of 27 years, beginning at Liberty County School northeast of Conrad, in Helena and finally at Morningside School in Great Falls.
    She was a member of the Great Falls Retired Teachers Association and Bethel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed dancing and playing cards.
    Survivors include her husband, William Gernaat, of Great Falls; sons Kenneth Mills, of Sun Valley, Nev., and Vernon Mills, of Missoula; a stepson William C. (Mary) Gernaat, of Great Falls; a stepdaughter Ruth (Cliff) Paulsen, of Conrad; eight step grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Mills; her parents; three brothers Allen Halverson, Herman Halverson and Wallace Halverson; a sister Louise Halverson Gernaat; a niece, Carol Gernaat and a stepdaughter, Blanche Merrill.
