Gordon L. Petersen    Healy, Alaska resident Gordon Lee Petersen, 55, passed away on May 15 at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital after fighting a 15-year battle with liver disease.
    He was born July 24, 1951, to Roland and Lucille Petersen in Conrad. He attended Brady High School in Brady, and graduated from Northern University in Havre.
    Gordon started his mechanics career in Conrad, spent a brief time in Shirley Basin, Wyo., and then came north to Alaska.
    Gordon worked in the gold and uranium mining industry and finally found a home at the Usibelli Coal mine in Healy. Gordon joined the Tri-Valley Volunteer Fire Department and then became an emergency medical technician.
    Gordon attained the level of EMT3. As a member of the Local emergency Planning Commission for many years, Gordon served the community he grew to call home with relentless love and dedication. Gordon was actively involved with all ages within the community through his activities in the community center.
    Gordon was preceeded in death by his father, Roland Petersen.
    He is survived by his mother, Lucille Petersen, of Brady; brother, Glenn Peterson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Tom Dorey, Sandy and Dave Riegel and Sharon and Pat Harrison; nieces and nephews, Mary and Dena Riegel, James and Tom Dorey and Devon and Dannie Harrison; and his second family in Alaska made up of his many friends and all whose lives he has so positively touched.
