Alan Lloyd Speer    Alan Lloyd Speer, 78, retired farmer and trailer court operator, died June 20, at Benefis Healthcare of complications following a surgery.
    A graveside service will be July 12, at 2 p.m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Conrad. A reception to celebrate his life will follow at the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church. Pondera Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
    Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Speer, of Conrad; son, Marc (Faye) Speer, of Circle; daughters, Loyanne (Erik) Gustafson, of Conrad and Sinda (Terry) LaBreche, of Missoula; brothers, Dale Speer, of California and Richard Speer, of Florida; sister, Jean Largent, of Simms; seven grandchildren, Ben, Erika, and Sinda Gustafson, Sheena, Brooke, and Connor LaBreche, and Dalton Speer.
    Lloyd was born Aug. 10, 1928 in Conrad to Otto and Ida Speer. He was a lifelong farmer, worked in area oilfields and served as a city policeman for eight years. Lloyd married Evelyn Hanson in Conrad on July 11, 1950. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will always be remembered as a truly kind and generous man. Lloyd loved to work on his farm, growing grain and hay and raising Appaloosa horses, pigs, and cattle. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
    He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and brothers, Kenneth, Donald and Robert.
