Ivan F. Lenz

    Ivan F. Lenz, 85, retired painter and carpenter and a longtime Brady resident, died of cancer Monday at a Conrad hospital.
    Cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time.
    Survivors include his wife, Ardell of Brady, and a son, Leon of Great Falls. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard, in 1973.
    He was born June 22, 1922, in Robinson, N.D., the son of John and Anna Kalpin Lenz, and was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie, Minn. He lived on the family ranch near Robinson before moving to Parkers Prairie in 1937. He graduated from high school there in 1940.
    He and Ardell Hultstrand were married in Parkers Prairie by the Rev. William Paul Hammar on June 22, 1942. They came to Montana with son Richard in 1947. He worked on a farm east of Brady before moving into town. He was a self-employed painting contractor and carpenter from 1955 until retiring in 1987.
    Ivan enjoyed hunting, gardening and sharing his garden with friends.
    Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Lorene Lenz of Parkers Prairie; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Vernon and Audrienne Hultstrand of Tempe, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Viola Hultstrand of Alexandria, Minn., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
    His father died in 1946, his mother in 1968 and a brother, Irgon, in 1996.
