Leonard J. “Lenny” Freestone

Leonard J. “Lenny” Freestone    Leonard J. “Lenny” Freestone, 68 years, a retired tavern owner and operator, died Oct. 24, at the Phillips County Hospital of natural causes.
    Funeral services were held Oct. 27, at the Adams Memorial Chapel in Malta. Interment followed at the Hillside Cemetery in Dodson. A reception at the V.F.W., in Malta, followed the graveside service. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
    Survivors include his foster son, Jamie Hutton, of Conrad; sisters, Shirley Reynolds and Gladys Olson, both of Malta; brothers, Danny Daniels, of Malta, Kenneth Freestone, of Heyburn, Idaho, and Ted Freestone, of Billings.
    Lenny was born Nov. 19, 1938, in Landusky, the son of Jess and Ida (Sharette) Freestone. Lenny was raised in Phillips County and attended schools in Malta and South Dakota and graduated from Pilot Training School. He crop dusted with Pat Doyle, of Turner, and enjoyed taking friends and family on joy rides. From his golden glove boxing teen years to tavern owner days he acquired lots of friends along the way.
